How to calculate the right amount of wallpaper for your walls
Welcome to our guide on calculating the required amount of wallpaper for your project! Whether you have a straight wall, sloped ceilings, or walls with obstacles, we offer practical tips to accurately measure your walls, so you know exactly how much wallpaper you need.

Measuring a straight wall
- Measure the height and width of your wall, adding an extra 5–10 cm.
Add at least 5 to 10 cm to your measurements to account for minor deviations. Especially with wide walls, height differences may occur. Older houses often have uneven walls, so keep that in mind. In such cases, measure multiple points on your wall to determine the highest and widest points.
If you apply the first strip slightly askew, you might end up a few centimeters short at the top or bottom after several strips.
Therefore, the recommendation is: for walls less than 4 meters wide, 5 cm extra all around is sufficient; for larger walls, we advise 10 cm extra all around.

Measuring sloped walls
- Measure the highest and widest points of your wall, adding 5–10 cm.
Decorazzi's wallpaper designs are wall-filling. Measure your wall at the highest point and add 5 to 10 cm. Sloped ceilings are included in the measurement and delivery but are not applied. This is considered waste.
When choosing your design, ensure the layout fits well with the shape of your wall.
Tip: Once you've selected a wallpaper and entered the dimensions, you can shift the wallpaper left or right in the order frame. This way, the most beautiful part of the design will be positioned correctly on your wall.

Measuring multiple walls
- Measure each wall separately and add up the widths, plus an extra 5–10 cm.
All of Decorazzi's wallpaper designs are always repeating in width. This means these wallpapers can be infinitely long in width. The height of each wallpaper design is scaled to the height of your wall.
When ordering wallpaper for multiple walls, you want the design to continue from one wall to the next. Therefore, order the combined width of all walls, plus 5 to 10 cm extra in case your walls are not straight. You will apply the wallpaper partially on one wall and partially on the other.

Measuring a stairwell
- Measure the highest and widest points, adding 5–10 cm extra.
Measure the highest and widest points of the stairwell and add the extra 5–10 cm. For multiple walls, add up the widths.
A stairwell is one of the most challenging spaces in your home to wallpaper. Hire a professional wallpaper installer if you have doubts about doing this yourself. Due to the height differences, you need proper and specialized climbing equipment.
