Check your surface
A perfect result with wallpaper starts with a well-prepared surface. It is essential to take the correct steps when preparing the walls for wallpapering.
DIY stores sell products for impregnating absorbent walls. This is a thin liquid that you apply with a roller. There are different names for the same product: wall primer (bonding primer) or wall sealer.
Steps for a good surface:
1. Remove old wallpaper
Completely remove the old wallpaper to create a smooth surface. The method depends on the type of wallpaper. In most cases, you start by thoroughly wetting the wall with warm water and then scrape off the wallpaper with a spatula.
2. Lightly sand the walls and check for irregularities
Ensure the walls are even and smooth before you start wallpapering.

3. For painted walls: sand them
Lightly sand the walls to ensure good adhesion of the new wallpaper.
4. Priming new plasterwork, sandy, powdery, and unsealed surfaces
Treat sandy or powdery walls with a bonding primer to improve adhesion. Allow to dry for 8 hours.
5. Priming screw and nail heads and filling holes
Treat screw and nail heads with primer and fill all holes with a strong adhesive filler.
6. Check temperature and humidity
Ensure the wall is completely dry, the surface temperature is at least 10°C, and the building moisture content does not exceed 6%.
